IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Eileen
Bigam
November 28, 1936 – October 24, 2025
Shirley Jensen: Born November 28th, 1936 in Edmonton, Alberta, passed away in Eugene, Oregon on October 24th, 2025. Daughter of German immigrants John and Dorothea Jensen, 1 of 4 children, with an older brother, Frank and sister, Helen as well as younger sister, Joyce. Her family had a small farm outside Onoway, Alberta where she lived into her teens. Around that time, her father decided to retire and the farm was sold. The family moved into the city of Edmonton where they attended Central Tabernacle church. It was here she met and dated Lawrence, her soon to be husband. Shirley married Lawrence Bigam in Edmonton, Alberta on May 3rd, 1958. In 1966, Shirley’s family moved to Red Deer where she raised her family of 3 children, Connie, Terry and Linda, and worked alongside her husband at his insurance agency. At one point in time everyone in the family worked at the agency. In 1984, Lawrence and Shirley along with their family relocated to Eugene, Oregon. There they purchased and operated Eugene Kamping World and the campground became the new family business.
Sadly, Shirley lost the love of her life as Lawrence passed away in 1996. Shirley loved her Lord Jesus and was a long-time member of New Life Church in Springfield. Shirley had deep Pentecostal roots dating all the way back to her childhood. The summer highlight was attending Sunnyside Pentecostal camp at Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
Shirley’s best times were spent with her children and grandchildren. Her cooking at family gatherings was always a treat. In her earlier days, she loved to travel to Hawaii and attend car shows with Lawrence. They put many miles on their RV, spent time at their cabin boating in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. She was not afraid of adventure. Alongside Lawrence, she learned to waterski, swim and snow ski. During their marriage Shirley and Lawrence would spend winters in Arizona and she continued for another 20 years on her own.
She was survived by two daughters, Connie (Lester) Nixon and Linda (Rob) Fisher both of Springfield, A son, Terry (Deanna) of Sherwood, a sister Joyce Davidson of Maple Ridge, BC, a sister-in-law, Bev Bigam of Sun Lakes, AZ., 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Rest-Haven Memorial Park on November 1st, 2025, at 2:30 pm
