Obituary

Roberta Louise Heitzman, 85, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. She was born on August 12, 1940, in Eugene, Oregon, to Ralph LeRay Nestle Sr. and Marie Lucille Nestle.

Roberta devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She took great pride in raising her six children and found joy in creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Her heart for service extended beyond her family — she volunteered at her church, taught Sunday school, supported various charities, and was an active member of the Rotary Anns, where she helped organize fundraising and community events.

She is survived by her beloved children and their spouses: James David “Dave” Sexton (Jen), Gregory Dean “Greg” Sexton (Jodi), Jason Eric Sexton, Tommy Dean “Tom” Sexton (Sandi), Jennifer Lynn Kirchman (Thad), Rachel Ann Sexton, and stepson James “Jim” Henry Heitzman (Mindy). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Roberta was preceded in death by her first husband, James W. Sexton, and her second husband, Henry J. Heitzman; her parents, Ralph LeRay Nestle Sr. and Marie Lucille Nestle; her sisters Mildred Marie Poague, Carol Jeanne Dahle, and Dorothy Reister; her brother Ralph LeRay Nestle Jr.; and her great-grandson, Carter Kirchman.

Roberta’s life was filled with a love of simple joys. She enjoyed gardening, traveling the world on cruises, and discovering new places. A voracious reader, she could often finish a book in just one day. She loved many kinds of music but especially found peace and inspiration in praise and worship songs, often spending hours listening and reflecting. Roberta’s faith was the foundation of her life — she and her first husband, Jim, helped plant several churches together, sharing their devotion and joy in the Lord with others. Her greatest passion was her family. Roberta always looked forward to family gatherings and lived by her favorite saying, “The more the merrier.” Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were always on her mind and in her heart.

A memorial service celebrating Roberta’s life will be held on November 10, 2025, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 3900 Willamette St, Eugene, Oregon. A family viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m.

Roberta will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love of family, and her generous spirit that touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
