Obituary

James Earl Clark, age 90, of Eugene, Oregon, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026. Born on September 12, 1935, in Frederic, Wisconsin, Jim moved to Eugene at a young age, where he lived the remainder of his life. He lived a life defined by dedication to family, service, and community.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Clark; his father, Francis “Frank” Clark, a World War I veteran; his mother, Anna Clark; and his brother, Wayne Clark. Jim is survived by his sons, Mike Clark and Frank Clark; daughter-in-law Molly Clark; grandsons Samuel Clark and Andrew Clark; and Andrew’s wife, Tamara Clark.

Jim proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve before beginning a distinguished career with the Eugene Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks to become Battalion Chief. Retiring after 20 years of service, he continued his professional career as a Vice President in the commercial fueling industry, continuing to work for many years because he never truly wanted to retire.

A hardworking and quiet man, Jim was also a previous member of the Methodist Church. Outside of work, he was an avid waterfowl hunter who cherished the outdoors and the friendships and traditions that came with it.

A private entombment will be held at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene, Oregon.

He will be deeply missed.
