Gordon Kenneth Wylie passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at age 93.
Gordon was born February 10, 1932 at the family farm on Garden Way Road in Eugene, Oregon to Florence Evelyn Hartman and Kenneth Haden Wylie.
He attended the Garden Way School through 8th grade and then went on to Eugene High School (now known as South Eugene High) where he graduated in 1950. At Willamette University, Gordon earned his Juris Doctor, then passed the BAR exam in 1956 to become a practicing Lawyer in Oregon.
Early in Gordon’s career he formed a law practice with fellow lawyers Larry Gildea and Howard Speer, opening their office on East Park St., downtown Eugene. In 1968 he was appointed as Juvenile Referee (Judge) at the Lane County Juvenile Court. In 1983 he returned to private practice where he focused on family law until his retirement in 1998.
Gordon was an avid sportsman, spending many hours fly fishing Oregon rivers and Cascade lakes in his McKenzie river boat. He and best friend Bob McCrea made annual trips to Weiser, Idaho where they flushed pheasants, chased Chukars and occasionally Bob’s dogs; Sharing laughs and fellowship during their nearly 70-year friendship.
Gordon married Linda Prunkl in 1971, they shared 54 years together until his passing. Gordon and Linda spent many years traveling the world, they were members of the American Rhododendron Society and enjoyed cultivating, growing and displaying Rhododendron hybrids. Gordon was President of the society, serving both the Oregon chapter as well as the national organization.
Gordon is survived by his wife Linda, sons, Stephen Kenneth Hall (Lori) and their family, Todd Gordon Wylie, (Kimberly) and their family, including 3 grandchildren and 6 great grand-children, Niece Leonnie Boss, (Ken) and their family, including a grand niece and nephew along with 3 great grandnieces. Gordon was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Charlotte Wylie and his stepdaughter Michelle Maria Prunkl.
